A RECORD BREAKER
Harold Cole began his career with the Orlo Vista Fire Department in 1966 (maintaining Fire Trucks). For the past several years, he's worked with the fleet maintenance bureau repairing small engines.
So why retire now at 84 years old? “It’s better to be able to walkaway, than have to be carried away,” Cole said. He also says he stayed at the job because he was satisfied with the work. “I guess they was satisfied with me, they kept me on this long,” he said. He says a lot has changed over the years with trucks becoming more sophisticated. Cole has officially retired August 19th. He says hedoesn’t plan on taking it easy. “I got enough yard work to try and
keep up with,” Cole said. “That’s a good hobby. I like doing it.” He also added, “It's a big change I'm taking gradually.” He, also, helps maintain our Chamber and the grounds around it.
He was honored by Orange County Commissioners on their August 2nd meeting. He made a record of 45 years of service for Orange County.
